The stars on the canton (blue rectangle) of the American Flag represent the individual states of the Union. The white handprints on the canton of my flag represent the 9/11 victims from Hoboken. I placed them alphabetically, and if they had a child, their child's handprint represented their lost parent.

Some of the kids that lost a parent never got a chance to really know them.
