HOBOKEN MUSEUM CLASSES
Drawing History
with Artist Raymond Smith

Grades 3-8

Visual artists played an important role in the World War I effort. Their paintings, films, photographs, and drawings helped civilians visualize events, and propaganda poster artists solicited public support.

Students will have an opportunity to study many of these impressive posters in the current exhibition. With the guidance of local artist Raymond Smith, designer of the popular “Greetings from Hoboken” postcard, each student will select an issue important to them, either historical or contemporary, and then convey their message in an original poster.

Please contact the museum at 201-656-2240 to register your class.
HOBOKEN MUSEUM FAMILY FUN DAY 2008
On Sunday, June 8, from 2-5 pm at the Hoboken Historical Museum, my son Charlie and I helped kids create their own postcards and greeting cards. The cards are based on my 'Greetings from Hoboken' design, and were mailed from the Museum's very own mailbox, with the new Frank Sinatra stamp!

This event was part of the current exhibit “Greetings from Hoboken: A Postcard History,” an exhibition of postcards from the Museum’s own collection.

You can read about the event at Hoboken Now
